The history of the hotel dates back to more than hundred year...
The idea of building the Hotel Erzsebet in the heart of the city at first came up in 1867, when new multi-storied palaces and boulevards were started to be built on the spot of the small, old houses and the narrow and overcrowded streets. The Hotel Erzsebet was opened in 1873, the year when Budapest, the Hungarian capital, was born by the union of three small villages Pest, Buda and Obuda. The small hotel was named with her permission after Sissi, Queen Elizabeth (Erzsebet), the wife of Emperor Francis Joseph, ruling that time the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
The age-worn house was closed in 1976, and it was even pulled down, and the modern three-star Hotel Erzsébet was opened in the summer of 1985 in its place. Since then the hotel was renovated several times, and today the Erzsébet Hotel preserves only its excellent traditions from the more than 100-year-old past.
